If you’re a SEGA fanatic, there are two things that are almost certain at this point in life. First, you are NOT getting a Shenmue sequel. Secondly, you’re bound to get more Yakuza games.
Which is surprising, seeing as these latest Yakuza 0 screens don’t just look fantastic, but make you wonder why they have not used this engine to wrap up the Shenmue storyline. But let’s not make this about Shenmue, as it steal the main objective here.
March 12, 2015 seems to be the target release date for Yakuza 0, at least in Japan for the PS4 and PS3. No real release date has been set for a domestic release, but chances are if SEGA gave us Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd, they sure as hell can at the least think ahead and give us this as well.
Yakuza 0 is, as you guessed, a prequel to the very successful open world game series that I personally describe as gangster life meets Asian drama. I wish I had more details for you, but sadly, I don’t. I can say, that the series in itself needs some getting acquainted with, as it feels very different from lets say, Grand Theft Auto, despite the small similarities in open world approach.
If you’re looking for a game that gives you that Asian drama feel, with open world characteristics, go for this series. Many of the games can be found at GameStop for next to nothing, which should help you kill some time until the (hopefully) arrival of this prequel.
Enjoy the screens.
