Wow just wow… Wait let me collect myself for a second cause this is by far one of the best Sony E3 press conference I’ve seen in a long time which may or may not have dealt a knockout blow to Microsoft’s Xbox One console.
The Sony Press conference started like and other before it with Jack Trenton taking the scene as it has become the norm over the years. Things start off with your typical announcements of promises that of experiences that can only be received on Sony’s gaming consoles and to some degrees that have been proven right. honestly I didn’t go onto this years E3 with very high hopes or with anywhere near as much excitement as I had in the past. But all that started to slowly change after the first few minutes into Sony’s press event.
The press event started off with Sony’s PlayStation Vita showcasing their continued support for the struggling system with a list of up coming games of which included was a remake of the God of War games with several others that were announced but as you know fellow gamers I was not fast enough to write them all down. Another interesting mention was the idea of using the handheld as a second screen pretty much in the same fasion as the Wii U which I find interesting but not necessary. overall the future is looking bright for the little handheld coming out of its first year. I am hoping they will continue supporting the system cause as much as I love the 3DS I need the PS Vita to stay strong.
AH yes The PlayStation 3 you have served the gaming community well over the years as you have given us 7 wonderful years of pure bliss with it comes to gaming but as old as you are you are, you are in no way dead or dieing since you have many more years of great games to come with titles like Rain, Beyond, Grand Tourismo 6, Batman Arkham Origins, Grand theft Auto 5, and The Last of Us coming out in the future and believe me you certainly won’t be collecting dust anytime soon if the Sony Press event has anything to say about it. Overall I am satisfied with what has come and what will be coming in the future with the PS3.
Ok I will be brutal here I didn’t care at all for this part of the E3 press event I honestly found myself getting worried that Sony may have been spending a little too much time in this section and honestly we all know the basics which are.
Just to name a few now its time to move on.
The moment we have all been waiting for the Playstation 4 was finally revealed with I honestly have to say looks better design wise but kinda reminds me of an eraser I used to use back in grade school. Either way looks aren’t everything since I was NOT a fan of the Playstation 3’s design when it was first unveiled anyway. The Playstation 4 will come with one controller and the Playstation Camera along with a host of launch window games which include.

And here came the knockout punch, the final blow, the Level three Super Arts that pretty much in my opinion gave Sony the best of show moment. The PS4 will support used games and I have to admit that was a huge relief and a deciding factor as to which console I will be getting first. And to top it off its $100.00 cheaper then the Xbox One? (PS4 $399.99 vs Xbone $499.99) I’m sold. Hearing the crowd chant Sony’s name is a first for me and the excitement in the crowd can clearly be heard for a good 20 second. Sony seems to have been listening and this is a decision that may help them win the next gen console wars. Funny thing is a week later Microsoft decided to do away with most of the restrictions they tried to impose on us and I see no way as to how MS were going to convince me to purchase their console first and honestly I like that both consoles more on equal grounds now (as a gamer I honestly don’t want one console overtaking the other).
This has got to be one of the most exciting Press conference Sony has put out. Yeah it started out slow and for a while I was worried that Sony might go in the same direction as Microsoft. Bravo Sony Bravo (applause) you listened to us, you gave us a lower price, and you showed us that you have learned from SOME of your past mistakes. I commend you for thinking about us the gamers who have almost begged you not to put the same restriction that Microsoft has put then pulled back on their Xbox One. It’s been a very long time since I’ve felt this way about a new console and I look forward to seeing where your gaming brand will be going in the future. Hopefully the choices you have made is an example to MS about what you shouldn’t do to to piss gamers off again.
